Devastation of Haiti’s Earthquake Was Made in America
Jul 22nd, 2010 by Earthquake Haiti
KIM IVES: … this earthquake was preceded by a political and economic earthquake with an epicenter 2000 miles north of here, in Washington, DC, over the past twenty-four years. We can say, first of all, there was the case of the two coups détats held in the space of thirteen years, in 91 and 2004, which were backed by the United States. They put in their own client regimes, which the Haitian people chased out of power. But these coups détats and subsequent occupations, foreign military occupations, in a country whose constitution forbids that, were fundamentally destructive, not just to the national government and its national programs, but also to the local governments or the parliaments, the mayors offices and also the local assemblies, which would elect a permanent electoral council. That permanent electoral council has never been made—its a provisional—and hence Préval, and just before the earthquake, was running roughshod over popular democracy by putting his own electoral council in place, provisional, and they were bringing him and his party to domination of the political scene. … Wondering what it would feel like to live in a country that didn’t do this all the time at www.michaelmoore.com
good luck with that ,don’t hold your breathe, I think you will be long dead. jee real sry about my poor grammar I wish I could say dumb shit as eloquent as you.
Thank you Michael Moore.
I don’t know which is more pathetic: your politcization of the catastrophe in Haiti or your ratinatization of you half-assed conspiracy theory. You and all those in agreement with you should be dropped in the middle of the disaster area and be left to fend for yourselves. You all are pathetic.
The US are trying to further their economic shocks to plunder the people of Haiti. Its sad and I’m sorry to say it, but americans should be ashamed of themselves
shut up dumb ass
If you think talking about events that are well known to have happened and are widely documented as “conspiracy theory” then I can understand why this report went right over your head. Perhaps if they summarized it in 100 words or 1 minute you would have the attention span to understand and the brain capacity to process such small amounts of information, whereas this video obviously blew some of your neurons…
Awesome, well said.
i doubt that had we been in a similar situation to haiti that they would have helped us.
Mr Ives is right: the US response is ALWAYS to go in waving guns and shouting in English at people who don’t speak English, and start hoarding supplies instead of distributing them to the people who need them. And people like Hilary Clinton and George H.W.”Poppy” Bush call that “helping.” The despicable, lying politicos are in fact using this disaster to seek even tighter US control of Haiti, and it’s sickening to watch. A similar thing happened in New Orleans: they made the suffering worse.
U.S. officials would later find an accommodation with the dictator François Papa Doc Duvalier, and then his son Jean-Claude Baby Doc Duvalier, as Haiti suffered under their brutal repressive policies.
U.S. interference became an integral part of Haitian history, culminating in a direct military occupation from 1915 to 1934. Through economic and military intervention, Haiti was subjugated as U.S. capital developed a railroad and acquired plantations. In a gesture of colonial arrogance, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was the assistant secretary of the Navy at the time, drafted a constitution for Haiti which, among other things, allowed foreigners to own land.
Making a disaster a political issue, something moronic liberals do best
So, is this guy saying he has a business plan to get investors to buy back and re-open the flour mill? Or to start exporting cement? Does Haiti grow any wheat, or are they going to import wheat from Nebraska instread of flour from Nebraska?
I’m serious. Show me a plan to open a cement plant, and I will look for investors. Unless you are against people getting a return on investment, too. In which case, you can just keep railing against the status quo.

guess what it means now..
Oil in Haiti Economic Reasons for the UN/US Occupation
There is evidence that the United States found oil in Haiti decades ago and due to the geopolitical circumstances and big business interests of that era made the decision to keep Haitian oil in reserve for when Middle Eastern oil had dried up.
Oil in Haiti Economic Reasons for the UN/US Occupation
Haiti suffers a devastating earthquake and immediately the U.S. government pledges its support in the relief effort but although the earthquake was simply nature taking its course, is the US aid effort and more importantly the apparent military occupation of Haiti by the US more than just a coincidence?
Oil in Haiti Economic Reasons for the UN/US Occupation
In barely a week the U.S. government has dispatched to Haiti almost 12,000 troops, multiple C-140 airships, military assessment teams, an aircraft carrier, marine transport ship, and unmanned reconnaissance drones.Furthermore, the Pentagon has announced the re-routing of 3 Persian Gulf bound naval vessels with another 4,000 troops as well as stating that it is considering sending an entire Marine regiment to the Island nation also.
Oil in Haiti Economic Reasons for the UN/US Occupation
Although the news of such a large military force occupying the nation has gone relatively unnoticed compared to aid efforts, people and nations are slowly starting to raise eyebrows with France, Bolivia and Venezuela publicly criticizing the US, claiming it is occupying the nation under the false humanitarian aid pretense.
@aggiefitz
Ignorance is bliss – you must be in seventh heaven.
The evidence is directly before your eyes….
Or is it? Your head is firmly in the sand.
May peace be upon you.
Thank you for your hard work in exposing the machinations behind the headlines.
It is shameful that such suffering could be exploited for profit. But I think that more and more people are waking up to the horrific reality that poverty, pain, war and suffering are all tools of policy.
It is time for change. Real change.
And we, the human race, are that change!
Peace
How so? They are doing the exact same things that they accuse others of.
One would never see a report of this magnitude on CNN. It all comes down to Haiti having another independence from the US to be truly free and rebuild itself. This documentary should be shown all around the world in every African Studies class around the world. People need to know the truth!
You do know Haiti is a third world country and they have a plethora amount of resources, but as you should know it is ruled by rich rulers that negotiates with other rich rulers(United States for example) and they exchange the goods for them. So Haiti can be considered a very rich country, but the ignorant greedy bastards that rule the countries never give money to the poor they want it all for themselves, I mean you can tell by the economy its quite obvious.
