HOWEVER – EARTHQUAKES OF THIS SIZE SOMETIMES GENERATE LOCAL TSUNAMIS THAT CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS LOCATED WITHIN A HUNDRED KILOMETERS OF THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. AUTHORITIES IN THE REGION OF THE EPICENTER SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS POSSIBILITY AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.

y dnt u all chek USGS real time map.. it shows more than 100s of earthquakes everyday, its when theyr particularly big tht make the news..clearly japan and chile are located on subduction zones, they feel earthquakes all the time

Was the Chile used caused to take the attention away from the Japan earthquake? I can see our gov’t using Haarp on Japan for trying to sell U.S. treasuries causing a weakening of the dollar. The same reason the U.S. is giving Mr. Toyoda the grind over sticky accelerators. Public embarrasssment and discrediting of Toyota vehicles is all they want to accomplish which will help Ford. It’s hard to discredit toyota’s reputation for quality. Fyi, i’m not japanese just calling it as I see it.
